This is an old revision of the document!

Introduction

  • By default, only one section can be open at a time. Therefore, if no sections are pinned open, when one section is expanded, all others will close. However, the user can control which sections are pinned open.
    • Expand section (+ button): drop down the section, and all non-pinned sections will close
    • Collapse section (- button): roll up the section
    • Pin open section (sideways pin button): click to force the section to stay open, even if any other section is expanded
    • Unpin section (upright pin button): click to unpin the button, allowing it to close if any other section is expanded
  • If an accordion title has the help icon displayed, the user can click on that icon to see accordion-specific help.
  • If there is a toolbar at the top of the accordion, these are the standard functions for the buttons if they exist:
    1. Clear all: clear all checkboxes and hide all trucks, jobs, etc. The button will also toggle to Select all.
    2. Select all: check all checkboxes and show all trucks, jobs, etc. The button will also toggle to Clear all.
  • Most columns are sortable. If they are sortable, clicking on the column header will first sort in ascending order. Clicking the header again will then sort in descending order.

Common functionality

  • Right-clicking on a row will pop up a menu that provides the following functions:
    • Request current location: this will initiate a message to the truck, and the truck device must respond with a location update. The location will then be available upon the next map data refresh cycle, after the truck reports its position. Given the communication steps and 30 second refresh cycle, there could be a delay of 30 seconds or more. This currently only requests the location of a device running the mobile device application. It will NOT request the current location of CalAmp devices.
    • Lookup speed limit: this will initiate a call to the mapping system (e.g., Google) to return the speed limit currently on record for the current location of the truck.

  • Placing the mouse pointer over the Comms column icon will result in a pop-up (as shown above) that summarizes communications status.
    • If either the GPS fix or comms is in error status, the icon will represent an error.
      • An error is indicated for comms status if nothing has been received from the truck in more than 6 times the GPS push interval specified for the company.
      • An error is indicated for GPS fix status if the fix on the last received GPS point for the truck is more than 25 minutes old.
    • If either the GPS fix or comms is in warning status, and neither are in error status, the icon will represent an warning.
      • A warning is indicated for comms status if nothing has been received from the truck in more than 3 times the GPS push interval specified for the company.
      • A warning is indicated for GPS fix status if the fix on the last received GPS point for the truck is between 12 and 25 minutes old.
    • If both the GPS fix and comms are in good standing, the icon will represent good status.
  • If all truck numbers for the company are numeric, the column will be treated as a numeric column and sorted as numbers. Example of ascending order:
    1. 1
    2. 5
    3. 9
    4. 32
    5. 45
  • If any truck numbers for the company include letters, truck numbers will be treated and sorted as characters. Example of ascending order:
    1. 1
    2. 32
    3. 45
    4. 5
    5. 9
  • Driver numbers are handled the same as truck numbers.

Functionality on Overall View map

  • Clicking on the truck row will center the map on the truck.
  • Checking the checkbox will show the truck, and clearing the checkbox will hide the truck.

Toolbar

  • Hide logged-out trucks: reload the trucks list to list logged-out trucks, and toggle the button to Show logged-out trucks.
  • Show logged-out trucks: reload the trucks list to remove logged-out trucks from the list, and toggle the button to Hide logged-out trucks. For a company that uses fixed devices like C3 Lokator 2 or Mentor, this will allow the user to see the location of the device even when logged out of Ranger.

Functionality on Map Detail map

  • The toolbar is hidden.
  • Truck checkboxes are hidden, so only one truck can be displayed at a time.
  • Clicking on the truck row will center the map on the truck, show the truck popup, and show the job pins for the job the truck is assigned to, if it is assigned.

Functionality on Unassigned Jobs map

  • A filtering toolbar is shown, allowing the user to show trucks based on job assignment status.
  • “Clear all”/“Show all” works the same as on the Overall View map.
