Basic Lot management Screen Functions

Lots

To set up and configure your lots in Ranger, from the left navigation pane, click on Lot Management, then Configure lots.

When you reach the Company lot detail screen (see below),

  1. Type the name of your lot (which will become available when entering a new job in Dispatch Direct) and complete the address, city, state and zip fields. Phone is optional but recommended. Ranger fills in an Id and the GPS coordinates.
  2. You will notice that Ranger finds the GPS coordinates for the new lot in the Latitude/Longitude fields.
  3. Click the save button at the bottom of the window.

Click on the sliding pane from the right side of the pane to see your lots. To add another lot, click the “Reset” button and repeat instructions above for each lot.

Add Inventory to Lot

Assuming your pricing structures for your lot(s) have been entered previously in Ranger, you can begin choosing your lot(s) as a destination from the dispatch screen, or manually enter your existing vehicle inventory, including dates/times admitted to the lot. Ranger automatically calculates storage/impound fees and any “extras,” such as lien letter processing, the same way it calculates a tow job.

Open the Inventory pane from the Lot Management left navigation pane by right clicking on “Inventory.”

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR SCREEN IS TOO NARROW, THE +NEW JOB BUTTON AND OTHER FUNCTIONAL BUTTONS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE. If you don't see the +New Job button in the image below, you may need to widen this window (and the window on your computer) to see the buttons.

  1. Click on the +New Job button on the right above the Inventory pane. Note the 4 yellow areas are required to save a new job.
  2. Choose an account code/name on the left, and a “Bill 1st Invoice to:” on the right.
  3. Enter Customer info and VIN number (bottom left) and click the “Check VIN Status” button, which will populate the vehicle details fields.
  4. For state or local Police calls, click on the arrow next to Agency info… to enter any relevant information in the fields available.
  5. Be sure to select a pricing template and choose the correct Impound Lot if you have more than one.
  6. SCROLL down to the bottom of the page and click the Save button to SAVE the job and enter the vehicle into the Pending Inventory (see slide out pane on the right for vehicle…may need to wait a couple of seconds and/or refresh the screen).

Admit to Lot From Pending

When a Lot is selected as the destination from Dispatch, the vehicle will automatically enter the Pending area available from the slide out pane on the right of the Lot Management tab. All owner and vehicle information imports into the Vehicle Details pane from the tow job and when you click on the vehicle from the Pending Screen.

By clicking the Ranger creates a new job ID that is linked to the tow job.
