  1. First, be sure to Uninstall any versions of the Ranger mobile app (CommLInk) currently on the device (this is essential to avoid database corruption).
  2. Then with the browser on the device, go to http://www.rangersst.com/mobile/android/
  3. If you haven't already, bookmark this page for future use.
  4. Click on “Other downloads and special test builds” at the bottom of the page
  5. Click on V3.00 (or higher) and the download will begin

When the download is complete, install the app (Tow2.apk), open the app, and log-in (you will need valid driver and truck numbers)

After successful login, go to the Main Menu in CommLink and choose “Settings”. In “Settings”, you'll see the three card card options that we'll configure next.

4c. Do Card Setup

  • If you are using a card reader, select your card reader model at the top of the screen. Then choose “TEST” to test the connection to the card reader. When you're done, choose “Save” at the bottom of the screen.
  • If you do not have a card reader and will be manually entering card numbers, choose “None” at the top of the screen, then choose “Save” at the bottom of the screen.

5. Run a Test charge

The device should now be ready - Consider creating a test job in Ranger, assigning it to the device (driver/truck). At ARRIVED, run a credit card authorization with your own credit card for a nominal amount. The authorization process will create a “token” that relates the CC number to the transaction in Ranger. (To be PCI compliant, credit card numbers are only stored in the X-Charge vault; NO CC numbers are stored in Ranger; further, NO credit card numbers should be entered into Ranger note fields. This is an invitation to hackers - jeopardizing the operation of the system.)

  • If successful, Cancel the job; the authorization will expire
  • If not successful, call for troubleshooting assistance

Authorization at Arrived

Choose “Credit Card Authorization” from the Arrived Menu, then enter the Authorization Amount.

For Keyed entry, the entry form will appear. For Swipe entry, the “Please Swipe Card” prompt will appear.

After entry is complete, the result of the Authorization is displayed.

6. Confirm access to OpenEdge / Accelerated portal website

You will also want to be sure you have your username and password for the X-Charge Web Portal in a secure, convenient location.

  • The Credit Card transaction report in Ranger will provide a log of processing activity, including a record of the truck/driver processing a credit card
  • The X-Charge portal provides information on the processing status of each transaction. If you have not received credentials for the portal, please contact Accelerated (OpenEdge) directly
