–Pricing Modes In Ranger–

- Mode: NONE

In Pricing Mode NONE, all details of pricing are hidden from the driver. This is accomplished by hiding the Clear process from the driver thus forcing the driver to use Quick Clear. Drivers can enter Extras as appropriate. Drivers cannot take payment on-scene.

The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Quick Clear.

- Mode: Driver

In Driver pricing, the rules provide an initial guideline, but the driver can override those calculations. During the Clear process, the pricing calculations are performed automatically. Then, the driver is presented with a menu that allows them to override any of the calculated values. The final values are sent back to Dispatch and recorded with the job.

There is no interaction with Dispatcher during the Driver pricing process. The driver can complete Driver pricing while out of coverage. Drivers can take payment on-scene based on the pricing as reflected in the changes (if any) that they have made.

This mode is useful when the driver has knowledge and expertise in pricing calls. For example, it would be useful with an experienced and trusted driver, and/or on a complex recovery that is outside the planned parameters.

The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Quick Clear, Clear.

- Mode: Confirm By Dispatcher

In Confirm by Dispatcher pricing, the rules provide an initial guideline, but the driver can override those calculations as in the Driver pricing mode. When the driver is complete, the information is relayed to the dispatcher for final editing and approval - dispatchers approve and can override pricing decisions by the driver.

During the Clear process, the pricing calculations are performed automatically. Then, the driver is presented with a menu that allows them to modify any of the calculated values. The driver-recommended values are then sent to Dispatch. The dispatcher then has a brief period of time to review the pricing information, make changes (if any), and return the final results to the mobile app. Note this implies the dispatcher is at their desk and ready to review pricing details immediately upon their arrival.

Drivers CAN NOT accept payment on-scene without the approval of Dispatch. It is assumed that since the review by Dispatch is important, the appropriate action is to defer payment

There are additional “statuses” in this process The driver will see “Pricing” as an added process step Dispatchers will see a Pricing status (blue “P”) on the Dispatch Board - their signal to quickly review pricing as submitted by the driver Dispatchers will also see a tan “PR” indicating that their pricing review is completed and that information has been sent to the driver (a new notification for the driver)

Because of the interaction with the dispatcher, the mobile app must have network connectivity to finalize pricing. If the mobile application is offline, only the preliminary pricing steps can be completed.

This mode is useful for accounts and situations where dispatchers should be involved in reviewing the pricing of a call.

The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Pricing, Quick Clear.

- Mode: Preset

In Preset pricing, the call is priced by the mobile application exactly according to the rules. The driver can see prices, but cannot modify/override any prices. During the Clear process, the pricing calculations are performed automatically. There is no interaction with Dispatcher during the Preset pricing process.

The driver can complete Preset pricing while out of coverage. Drivers can process payments on-scene.

This mode is useful when a call should be priced strictly according to the pre-configured rules. For example, it might be useful with new drivers and (night?) dispatchers.

The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Quick Clear, Clear.

- Mode PD - Preset / Due Only

In Preset / Due Only pricing, the call is priced by the mobile application exactly according to the rules. The driver CAN NOT see nor modify/override any prices. The only dollar amount visible to the driver is the Amount Due from the motorist. Note that in the case of a split invoice for a motor club call, the Amount Due is the second invoice amount.

During the Clear process, the pricing calculations are performed automatically. There is no interaction with Dispatcher during the Preset / Due Only pricing process. The driver can complete Preset pricing while out of coverage and process payments from the customer

This mode is useful when a call should be priced according to the pre-configured rules and pricing details should be hidden from the driver.

The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Quick Clear, Clear.

- Mode: Dispatcher

In Dispatcher pricing, the call is priced by the mobile application exactly according the rules in the Pricing Template. Drivers can enter information on Extras that will add to the charges. However, drivers CAN NOT change or edit any of the charges as calculated.

As in the “Confirm By Dispatcher” mode, information is relayed to the dispatcher for final editing and approval, and then sent back to the driver. When received, the driver can accept payment.

Again, because of the interaction with the dispatcher, the mobile app must have network connectivity to finalize pricing.

This mode is useful for dispatchers that want total control the pricing of a call. The Status Update menu contains the following status items for a new tow call: Enroute, Arrived, Hooked, Dropped, Pricing, Quick Clear.
