Inputting the “Bases” from which trucks can be dispatched is important in DispatchDirectTM because it enables you to bill enroute, loaded and return-to-base mileage, regardless of where the truck is physically located at the time of dispatch.

For example, you would want to dispatch the closest appropriate truck available (or soon to be available) to an incident location to save on fuel. But you want the pricing to be calculated based on the home base of the Truck, and from the appropriate Base location (for companies that dispatch from more than one location).

To set up Bases, you will need to enter each base with a physical address that can be geocoded properly. Go to Configuration/Company setup/Bases and enter the Name (recognizable to dispatchers), address, and click on Save.

Your bases will be available from the Dispatch Job Entry screen. Default bases can be selected on an Account basis or on a job by job basis.

Best practice is to choose as many default entries as possible when setting up Accounts to streamline new job entry.
