Line 1: Line 1:
 ====== Job Related ====== ====== Job Related ======

 +Every company has a different philosophy for paying commissions.  Ranger has tried to provide as much flexibility as possible without making the setup process too arduous.
 +
 +The first decision is which Commission structure to use for different accounts (if applicable), as Commission structures can be configured differently on each pricing templates.  Accounts for which you pay different commissions should use a unique pricing template, even if the rates are the same.
 +
 +The choices are available on each pricing template under the "Commission" tab:
 +  * Percent of total ticket charges
 +  * Flat fee per customer serviced
 +  * Line items on ticket
 +
 +The most common choice is "Line items on ticket," but first two choices are self-explanatory (see screen below).
 +
 +{{:support:06_commissions:commission_structure.png|}}
 +
 +"Line items on ticket" requires some further explanation, as each pricing parameter in the template can be configured with a different commission rate:
 +  - Tow/service price
 +  - Mileage (unloaded, loaded, and return to base (Port to Port)
 +  - Labor
 +  - Upcharges (costs added to ticket)
 +  - Discounts (costs subtracted from ticket)
 +  - Extras (legacy category, use Items/Item templates instead)
 +  - Item templates (created and assigned to specific pricing templates), e.g., oil dry, skates
 +
 +The Pricing parameters above represent line item components on each job ticket.  Each component should be configured based on the Account for which it will be used.
 +
 +For example, if you want to pay commission on service/tow charge and mileage, but do not want to pay commission on up charges (which may not be set up in the template, but might be used if adjusting pricing manually), we will want the commission rate to appear on the service/tow charge and mileage tabs, but NOT on the up charges tab.
 +
 +Similarly, if we don't want to pay a commission on a discount (which may not be set up in the template, but might be used if adjusting pricing manually), we will want the commission rate to appear on the discount tab to reduce the commission paid to the driver.
 +
 +====== Items and Item Templates ======
 +
 +Commissions for Items and Item Templates are configured when setting up each item.  Keep in mind that if commissions paid on Items will differ between Accounts, that these Accounts would need to have different items set up //even if they share rates//.
 +
 +====== Ranger SST Best Practice ======
 +
 +To provide our customers with maximum flexibility in the future with respect to paying commissions, and allow them to quickly implement a performance-based commission structure, Ranger Best Practice is to set up a two-rate commission structure.
 +
 +For example, if you wanted to utilize a 25% commission structure, we could set up a base commission of 15% using any of the three structures above (total ticket, flat rate per job, or line items). We would then create a user-defined structure with the remaining 10% of the total commission rate assigned to each driver, which would result in 25% commission.
